Unexpected schema grammar errors.

Chris Simmons-2
Hi,

I've encountered an unexpected schema grammar error in the attached
document when loading it as a schema.  The errors are for the two types
with totalDigits 17.

Error on line 256 of fi-sbr-types-01-01-2013.xsd:
   The totalDigits facet is not allowed on a type derived from the type
defined at line 248
   of file:/path/fi-sbr-types-01-01-2013.xsd
Error on line 271 of fi-sbr-types-01-01-2013.xsd:
   The totalDigits facet is not allowed on a type derived from the type
defined at line 264
   of file:/path/fi-sbr-types-01-01-2013.xsd

I say unexpected because both Xerces and Eclipse XSD don't detect any
schema grammar errors.

The only difference I can see is that the totalDigits 17 types are
derived from types that define a minInclusive facet.

Regards,

Chris Simmons.

Re: Unexpected schema grammar errors.

The error message suggests you must be using Saxon 9.4 or earlier (the message has changed in later releases).

But when I run it on 9.4, it works.

Could you confirm which release you are using?

It’s working for me with 9.3.0.11. What specific maintenance release are you using? Is it possible for you to move to a more recent release?

I haven’t been able to identify the specific bug in the bug tracker, but there are a lot to search through, and it would have been around 2012 so I have no recollection of it.

Re: Unexpected schema grammar errors.

Chris Simmons-2
That's strange, I ran the net.sf.saxon.Version main method and it output

SAXON 9.3.0.11 from Saxonica (build 102012)

The test code is doing this

Processor processor = new Processor(true);
processor.setConfigurationProperty("http://saxonica.com/oem-data",
SaxonLicence.getDeobfuscatedLicence());
processor.getSchemaManager().load(new
StreamSource(getClass().getResource("fi-sbr-types-01-01-2013.xsd").toString()));

The errors are going to standard error.

I've been trying to run more recent versions (9.5 and 9.6) but the
current licence we have doesn't allow me to.  We may have a more recent
licence I could try.

Chris Simmons.

In reply to this post by Michael Kay
I just found our new licence and the bug, whatever it was, is fixed
using the most recent 9.5/9.6 jars.

Kind regards,

Chris Simmons.

It’s possible that the version I was running was not actually 9.3.0.11, but 9.3.0.11 + some unreleased patches.
